Fixing Ghana's Waste Systems

Our Country is being swallowed up by waste. The focus of the Government in recent news advocates and edge Ghanaian to patronize eco-friendly products and has already delegated 15 Accra Metropolitan Assembly to Rwanda to study the waste management system and come to implement in Ghana. Hence, the market for our eco-bags products are likely to increase exponentially in the market.

. These products are environmentally friendly products and are in line with the government agenda of making Ghana the cleanest city in Africa.

The vision of Eco-Clean Ghana is to recycle all categories of waste into resources using the circular economy principles of take, make, use and recycle. There are a lot of wastes that are rampant in our operating communities, regions and the whole country, Ghana. Waste is a challenge and causes serious environmental, climate and health issues. Eco-Clean Ghana envisages turning these waste into resources thereby informing the public that waste is not waste but rather resources which can still be recycled to benefit human life and save our planet.

In achieving the vision of turning waste into resources, gaining financial benefit and impacting positively to the environment, Eco-Clean Ghana started its operations in the Bono East Region, New Longoro in 2016 where its main activity was mushroom production. There were a lot of saw-dust, rice chaff which were seen as waste and burned to pollute the environment.

Eco-Clean Ghana in 2019, 2020 and 2021 has been able to recycle over 4 tons of waste both plastics and degradable waste into eco-friendly products.

These waste would have ended up in landfills and burned to pollute the environment. 500 women and youth have been trained on recycling plastic waste into ecobags (school bags and laptop bags) and recycling sawdust, rice chaff into edible mushrooms. The public has been educated about both the linear and circular approaches and the reason why they need to patronize our products because the products follow the circular economy approach to living. All our products contribute immensely to environmental protection and conservation.

Promoting our products means promoting environmental education. Hence the need for our Eco-Clean Ghana business to be promoted in all regions of Ghana is very keen. The communities we work with support us with the necessary materials that are needed to turn the available waste within our capacity into useful products. The communities are our customers that patronize the products we produce. Community leaders and elders support us with the necessary advice and space to organize advocacy programs on sanitation and environmental protection in their communities. Aside from the community leaders we have other external partners like customers, stakeholders, project partners and government authorities. We engage with these partners through project implementations, feedbacks, and arrange meetings
