Eco-Clean Ghana: COVID-19 Measures for School Re-Opening in Ghana

The COVID-19 pandemic not only put people's health at risk, but it also severely affected the economy and caused unemployment rates to rise in many countries, including Ghana.

To respond to these challenges, Eco-Clean Ghana has initiated a campaign aimed at opening entrepreneurial doors for women, girls and others. We aim to train 500 women and girls to sew bags and produce cleaning products, creating employment opportunities for both educated and uneducated people across the country. We wish to help people who have little to no experience in sewing and soapmaking transform their livelihoods. Ultimately, we hope that this project will better prepare us for the re-opening of schools during the pandemic.

The trainees will learn how to produce waterproof school bags (Ecobags) and cleaning detergents. These products will be sold to schools, providing students with school bags and sanitary products while also generating income. The bags are produced from plastic waste, so this project also promotes environmental sustainability. They are spill-proof and waterproof, so students don't have to worry about their books getting wet if something spills in their bag. In order to help fight COVID-19, each student will be receive an Ecobag containing a bottle of liquid soap, a mask and hand sanitizers.

This project will help protect the environment by raising awareness for waste disposal and management strategies, as demonstrated by our Ecobags. It will create employment opportunities for the vulnerable, educate students on COVID-19 prevention measures, and create valuable products for schools and the general public. We kindly ask for your support.
